Note that the Creature Limit for Standard Formats is 6 and the Support Limit for Standard Formats is 4. Unless specified otherwise by an Ability, when you place a Creature or Support and you already have the maximum, you must place a Card in that Zone from the Battlefield into the Graveyard.
1: A Wheel of Eternity Commander Card.
2: A 50 Card Wheel of Eternity Deck that shares the same Class and Colour identity as your chosen Commander.
3: A Wheel of Eternity Mana Deck, made up of a maximum of 6 Mana Cards (White bordered) that share the same Class and Colour identity as your Commander.
4: A way of tracking life and counters, in the form of a spindown life counter, D20 Dice, pen and paper, tokens etc.
5: (Optional) a 15 Card Sideboard of Cards that share the same Class and Colour identity as your Commander.
1: Each player places their Commander on the table in their Command Zone (Centre of the Battlefield). Your Life Total is equal to your Commanders Life Total.
2: Each player may now transfer Cards between their Deck and Sideboard, when done, the Sideboard must leave the area of play.
3: Each player must shuffle their Main Deck.
4: Each player may now organize their 6 Card Mana Deck in the way they would prefer (drawing your Mana Cards in a desired order can be part of your strategy, therefore, do not show your opponent how your Mana Deck is ordered!) and place both their main Deck and their Mana Deck to their right and left respectively.
5: Players may now determine who starts the game (using whatever method you prefer)
1: Each player draws a total of 6 Cards from their main Deck.
2: Each player decides if they wish to keep their hand, or mulligan. A free mulligan is allowed, where you will place your cards on the bottom of your deck and draw 6 fresh cards.
1: Each players first turn consists of drawing a Card from their Mana Deck and either placing it in the Mana Zone, or taking it to their hand (Note: If you choose to take this card to your hand you will be permanently down 2 maximum mana, however once taken to the hand, Mana Cards behave as regular Creature Cards).
2: The Main Phase begins here, you may play any cards (Creatures, Supports) that you are able to afford at this stage by tapping your Mana Card in the Mana Zone and adding 2 Mana to your total pool.
3: On each players first turn, abilities that trigger upon Creatures entering the Battlefield will not trigger. You can also not play any Spell Cards or take any other actions, Key Abilities that allow the Creature to act will also not trigger on turn one.
Further Turns, Game Flow:
1: Each turn will alternate between drawing a Card from your Mana Deck, and drawing from your Main Deck. Odd turns will mean you will draw from Mana, even turns will mean drawing from your Deck. Until your Mana Pool is full and your Mana Deck is exhausted, after which you draw from your Main Deck each turn.
1: Combat happens during the Main Phase, and is separated into Battles. A Battle is initiated when the player who's turn it currently is declares an attack on a target. By default, players may target an opponents Commander or a Creature that is Tapped. Untapped Creatures cannot be targeted unless specified by an ability.
2: Once the Battle is initiated, the opposing player may respond by casting any Spell Cards they are allowed to use, abilities they are allowed to use, or by declaring a Creature with the Key Ability 'Blocker' as the new target for the attack.
3: The Creature that has initiated the attack must Tap as it does so. Unless specified otherwise by an ability.
4: Blockers activated by the opponent must Tap as they Block unless specified otherwise by an ability.
5: At this stage, all abilities declared during the attack phase (such as any that state 'When this Creature Attacks', 'When a Creature your opponent controls Attacks' or 'When your opponent takes damage') will resolve. After this, damage is calculated. By default, if your Creatures Attack Power (Upper Right Top) is equal to or higher than your targets Defense (Upper Right Lower) then that Creature is destroyed, and must be placed in your opponents Graveyard. If the target is not a Creature and instead is the Commander, then the Commander takes damage equal to your Creatures Attack Power.
6: The Battle is now considered over. You may initiate another Battle by declaring an attack with another Creature, or you may continue the Main Phase by using Spells or Abilities. You may have as many Battles as you have Creatures.
Win Conditions:
1: You win the game by reducing your opponents Commander to 0 Life. Note: The game only ends at the end of the turn in which that Commander has hit 0 Life, if an ability that allows your opponent to reclaim at least 1 Life triggers before the end of their turn the game continues.
2: Alternatively, the game ends when one of the players can no longer draw a Card from their Main Deck, due to running out of cards. Unless specified otherwise.
